What is an Acuva water filter?
The Acuva water filter is a UV LED water purification system. It uses high-tech UV LED technology to destroy bacteria, viruses and other pathogens in water. After the purification process, the water is safe for consumption.
By monitoring the flow of water in the system, it can produce safe, drinkable water. This filter uses Acuva’s patented IntenseBeam technology and optical lenses with flowing water. This precision beam destroys microorganisms present in the water. It can kill 99.999% of E. coli bacteria.
In addition, you can easily maintain this water filter. There is no hassle of cleaning, and you don’t need to change bulbs. Also, don’t worry about wasting space because the unit is compact and out of the way.
It kills all the bad and potentially dangerous organisms in your water, but leaves healthy minerals like calcium and magnesium.
Do UV water filters really work?
UV water filters are among the best ways to make clean, safe drinking water. With a UV water filter, you can take your water treatment to the next level. This is a great option that we think is worth considering.
These devices kill 99.99% of microorganisms, are environmentally friendly, and incredibly reliable. In addition, these water filters are among the most effective at destroying Cryptosporidium and Giardia, two chlorine-resistant pathogens commonly found in lakes and rivers.
Is it safe to drink UV-treated water?
Water that has been treated with UV water filters is safe to drink. This purification method has been shown to be effective in destroying bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms that can find their way into the water supply.
It is safe for humans and the environment. Unlike many other cleaning methods, the process does not require hazardous chemicals.
However, because UV water filters do not remove contaminants such as heavy metals, chemicals, and sediments, you should use additional water treatment methods. Activated carbon filters and reverse osmosis systems are excellent partners for UV treatment.
What we like about the Acuva water filter
The Acuva water filter is the perfect solution for us because of a few features. Let’s take a look at what we love about it and why we are fans.
Kills viruses and bacteria
One of the difficulties of traveling is the constant change of water sources. While most places go to great lengths to provide clean, safe drinking water, you can never be 100% sure.
Fortunately, our Acuva water filter kills just about 100% of the viruses and bacteria in the water that passes through it.
Theoretically, we could dump water from a lake, river, or stream into our system and it would kill all viruses and bacteria. However, we have no plans to try this anytime soon; we’ll just have to take the company’s word for it.

Chemical-free
Another plus of the Acuva water filter is that its UV LED technology does not require harmful chemicals such as chlorine or iodine.
While other proven methods use these chemicals, we don’t want to ingest chemicals that we don’t absolutely need. When we realized that we could achieve the same results without harmful substances, we knew that this was an ideal solution for H2O Heaven.
What we don’t like about the Acuva water filter
While this type of water filter is a great option, it is far from perfect. We love the Acuva water filter, but have found a few things we don’t like.
Requires electricity
Unlike other options, the Acuva water filter unfortunately requires electricity. For us, we are with our filter in our truck camper.
We have a large enough lithium battery bank so this is not a problem. However, if you want to camp off-grid or use the filter in another off-grid environment, you should plan for the power requirements.
Power requirements depend on which model you choose. In standby mode, it typically consumes about 0.1 watts. In active mode, however, it is between five and nine watts.
If you spend most of your time at campgrounds with shore power, this probably won’t be a problem. However, if you like to camp outdoors or do other types of off-grid camping, you may want to consider this.

Does not filter sediments
The Acuva water filter and other types of UV LED water filtration systems can produce clean and safe water, but do not remove sediment or other particles.
Therefore, to get the best water quality, you must run the water through an additional filtration system.
You can do this by adding a pre-filter or sediment filter before the Acuva. This will remove sediment, chlorine and other impurities from the water before it reaches the UV LED unit.

We couldn’t be happier with the results of our Acuva water filter. We have told ourselves time and time again that we wish we had made the switch sooner.
