The HitchFire: A propane grill for the hitch to take along when camping.
A propane grill is a must-have for most campers. It provides a reliable source of food preparation without the need for a wood fire. Propane grills are easy to light and provide instant heat and are the first choice.
There are really only two choices for camping grills using propane: BBQs and camp stoves. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, especially size. Traditional grills can be huge areas with side burners and rotisseries; they’re great for your backyard, but cumbersome to transport. Camping stoves, on the other hand, are easy to transport but often too small.
Many of the camping stoves are cheap and do not provide an ideal cooking surface. Most camping stoves require a table or flat surface to stand on. Some stoves have folding legs, which usually makes them either unstable or too large for storage. The ultimate propane grill should offer a large, high-quality cooking surface and not take up valuable storage space in your vehicle.
This is HitchFire, the ultimate propane grill for travel and adventure.
What is HitchFire?
Inspired by adventures, road trips and a love of the outdoors, HitchFire is an innovator in the outdoor market. From the founders of Tepui, the leader in rooftop tents, this is a true outdoor company.
The best outdoor and camping products always come from people who are passionate about the outdoor lifestyle. So it’s no surprise why HitchFire is so successful.
HitchFire has earned its reputation by offering the highest quality products and backing them up with great customer service. They have embraced the outdoor lifestyle and have transferred their quality and service to HitchFire. The result is the best trailer mount grills on the market.
With the Forge 15, the F-20 and all of their accessories, HitchFire offers you a full line of grills and will not disappoint you with any of their products.
Grills for the hitch
For a grill that can feed a family, you need more than just a small camping stove. Grills are ideal, of course, but they are not suitable for transport because of their size and weight. When packing for a trip, you always have to think about space. A full size grill often won’t fit in that space.
The alternative is camping stoves, which are much easier to store, but are often too small. They also require a table to set them on. This is good for making coffee in the morning or maybe warming up soup, but not good for actually cooking meals.
HitchFire has combined size and convenience and found a way to easily transport the grill, whether for a weekend getaway or an overland trip. For those who pull an RV, there’s even a kit that allows you to integrate the vehicle’s propane system with the HitchFire grill. With a rear hitch mounted to your RV, you now have an outdoor kitchen.

High quality workmanship and materials
What makes the HitchFire grill unique is the swivel joint attached to the hitch, which allows for easy storage and an ergonomic cooking area. Integrating the storage and cooking area into one unit requires several parts to work together.
Building a solid trailer hitch-mounted storage unit can be difficult. Moving the vehicle over rough roads takes its toll on cheaply made units. Combine this with the fact that this facility is not a fixed unit, but a swivel unit, and it requires quality materials and design to work.
HitchFire uses the same 2″ trailer hitch used on many thousand pound vehicles. This is the basis for the sturdy swivel that makes up the rest of the unit. The square tubes transition into round tubes that extend at a 90 degree angle to the hitch to allow for flush mounting to the rear of the vehicle.
The second piece of round tubing is hinged at the top and completes the articulated arm that holds the mounting surface of the grill. The large diameter tubes and tight tolerances of the swivel make for a very solid feel, both while driving and cooking.
Ergonomics and haptics
Sitting hunched over a campfire or camping stove is by no means a pleasant way to cook. A comfortable height of the grill mounted on a stable surface is a much better option.
The HitchFire grill alone is a step up from most camping stoves. Then add a food preparation area, also mounted on the same unit, and you have a kitchen wherever you go.
The stainless steel grilling surface and solid handles and knobs make this grill look like a quality propane grill for the backyard. With available cutting board, side burner and pan options, you can always add a professional cooking station to your vehicle.
HitchFire Propane Grills
Currently, HitchFire offers two propane grills: the Forge 15 and the F-20. Both options offer the same excellent quality, and both grills use the same swivel arm attached to the coupler.
The Forge 15 features two 7500 BTU burners with a total cooking capacity of 15,000 BTU. The burners spread across an 18″ x 22″ area and provide a cooking surface of 355 sq/in. This is enough to feed 8-10 people. Individual burner controls allow for temperature control and propane efficiency.
On both sides of the grill is a large storage area for cooking utensils and additional ingredients. A large, easy-to-read temperature gauge ensures the grill is exactly where you want it.
The F-20 propane grill offers all the features of the Forge 15 but has two 10,000 BTU burners for a total of 20,000 BTU.
The stainless steel grate and extra-large flame tamers make for an even more professional grilling experience. Combine any of the accessories from the HitchFire catalog and you have everything you need to prepare quick, delicious meals.
Both the Forge 15 and F-20 grills are backed by a 2-year warranty, and HitchFire customer service can be contacted by email or toll-free number.
When you’re away from home, don’t miss out on hot, delicious meals. HitchFire propane grills give you the option of a high-quality cooking surface and the ease of taking it with you wherever you go.
