The Keystone Cougar is a popular series of fifth wheels and travel trailers. Whether you plan to travel full time or enjoy weekend adventures, one of these vehicles could be just what you need.
However, with so many manufacturers in the industry, finding the right vehicle for your needs isn’t easy. It’s also important to remember that some are better than others.
Today we’re looking at the Keystone Cougar range to find out if it’s right for you. Let’s get started!
Keystone is a large RV manufacturer founded in 1996 by Cole Davis. His goal was to add as many features as possible to RVs and provide tremendous value to customers. Davis founded his team and set up shop in Goshen, Indiana.
The brand prides itself on its effortless shopping experience. When you search for RVs on the website, you can easily find the most important information about each RV. This means you no longer have to guess or search for details when comparing one vehicle to another.
Some of the most popular brands in the Keystone lineup include the Cougar, Montana, Outback, Passport and Springdale. More than a million owners have chosen Keystone motorhomes for their adventures. With worry-free customer service and the great Keystone Nation, you’re not alone. It’s easy to see why many choose Keystone motorhomes.
About the Keystone Cougar
The Keystone Cougar range was introduced in 1998, just a few years after Keystone was launched. It has become one of the most popular models in the brand’s arsenal. In 2020, the 200,000th Cougar was manufactured. When you look at the options and specifications, it’s easy to see why.
Keystone’s Cougar range is available as both a travel trailer and a fifth wheel. There are half-ton fifth wheels and travel trailers, premium fifth wheels and the Cougar Sport. Your choice depends on how you want to use your vehicle.
Regardless of whether you have a half-ton or full-size truck, there are a variety of options. There are models with an MSRP ranging from $40,000 to over $100,000. The models with the Climate Guard year-round protection have some of the best features that make them perfect for full-time, year-round camping.
Where is it made?
Keystone is headquartered in Goshen, Indiana. The company has more than one million square feet of manufacturing space in Goshen and Pendleton, Oregon. Due to the massive increase in demand, a third plant was opened in Goshen in 2021.
Scott Taylor, product manager at Keystone RV, told RV Pro that the new plant “will shorten lead times for units already sold that have been ordered by our dealers and will allow us to get back into inventory faster.” This is another example of the company doing whatever it takes to put customers first.

The Keystone Cougar travel trailer product range
Are you considering a Keystone Cougar travel trailer? There are more than 24 different floor plans in the product range. Which one is right for you? Let’s take a look at some of the most popular options and find out.
Keystone Cougar 22MLS
Length: 26 feet 10 inches
Weight: 5,887 pounds
Features: The Keystone Cougar 22MLS features a massive double bed with a closet and bedside table on either side. This unit features a single slide design that accommodates comfortable theater seating, a 12-volt refrigerator, and space to cook on the stove or microwave.
Owners have the choice of a booth dinette that converts to an additional berth and a free-standing dinette with chairs. A full bathroom is located in the rear of the vehicle to keep the area open. For being one of the smallest vehicles in the range, Keystone packs a lot into its 27 feet.
Keystone Cougar 25RDS
Length: 29 feet 10 inches
Weight: 6,419 pounds
Features: The Keystone Cougar 25RDS has one of the largest rear dinettes you’ll ever see. This makes it easy to entertain friends and family or spend time inside on rainy days. There’s no shortage of seating, and you’ll likely have plenty of room to spread out.
Other key features of the 25RDS include a large L-shaped work surface and an ensuite bedroom.
We also like the fact that the bedroom has its own entrance and exit so that guests are not disturbed in the living area. The electric fireplace is an excellent addition for chilly mornings.
Keystone Cougar 34TSB
Length: 37 feet 5 inches
Weight: 8,678 lb
Features: The 34TSB has a bunkhouse with three sliding doors and an outdoor kitchen. With sleeping space for 11 people, this is one of the best models for large families. However, it is important to note that despite sleeping an entire soccer team, there is only one bathroom.
For those who don’t mind using a camping shower and toilet, this might not be a problem. On the other hand, the 30-gallon black water tank could fill up quickly if you’re not on a pitch with a full hook-up.
The Keystone Cougar Fifth Wheel product range
Keystone Cougar 24RDS
Length: 28 feet 10 inches
Weight: 7,612 pounds
Features: If you want to stay under 30 feet in length, the 24RDS with its two slides is worth considering. It has a large rear dinette that offers excellent views through the large rear window. Owners have the choice of a theater seating area or a pull-out couch.
If you need more space for sleeping, you should opt for the pull-out couch. Once you have passed the L-shaped kitchen, you go up two flights of stairs and the bathroom is on your right. At the top of the stairs straight ahead is the large master bedroom.
Keystone Cougar 316RLS
Length: 35 feet 8 inches
Weight: 10,679 pounds
Features: The Keystone Cougar 316RLS has three slides, two of which are opposite each other. When extended, a large open space is created, which makes the entire unit appear very spacious.
The island in the center is perfect for meal preparation and serving. One of the best features of this floor plan is that the bathroom and bedroom are accessible without retractable sliders.
This feature is appreciated by many owners, especially for short stopovers or to avoid using confusing gas station restrooms.
